DOT Open House Meeting on Thursday, October 30th from 6:30-8 pm.
As part of the Zoo Interchange project, the Wisconsin Department
of Transportation (WisDOT) plans to reconstruct the pedestrian
bridge north of Center Street in 2015 and the Center Street Bridge
in 2016. As part of the reconstruction, a parking lot and pedestrian
path are proposed to better connect Locust Street and the
pedestrian bridge and help alleviate congestion on Center Street.
WisDOT and the City of Wauwatosa have scheduled a meeting to
discuss plans for the parking lot and path with the neighbors and
other users of the pedestrian bridge. Please stop in at the
meeting to get information from project staff and share your
thoughts on the proposals.
The construction of the Locust Street Parking Lot is supported by the Safe Routes to School program.
The area could be utilized for students to have a safe route to travel to Eisenhower Elementary School, Whitman Middle School and Wauwatosa West High School.
